Quick and healthy ideas

I am here today to dispel the myth that eating healthy takes a lot of time in the kitchen or that you have to be good at cooking to actually being able to come up with appetising healthy dishes. In order to do so, I’m going to give you tree quick and easy snack/lunch/dinner ideas that won’t take you more than 5 minutes to get ready and that are healthy and really good for you. I hope you find at least one that meets your taste.

Photogenic porridge/yoghurt

This snack is one of my favorite snacks ever. I have it almost everyday and if you want to, you can turn it into a filling breakfast that will give you the energy you need for your busy mornings.

Blueberries, oats and wallnuts yoghurt

Preparing this snack is quite simple. You just need to pour your favorite yoghurt into a bowl and then sprinkle some oats on top. After that, place the fruit you like most on one side carefully and do the same with whatever nuts you fancy  or have in that moment and voilá! Nice and healthy!

If you’d rather have this in the morning, just replace the yoghurt with milk. Heat it to a boil in a deep pan and add a big full spoon of oats. Stir up and you will see the oats soak the milk and you’ll get a delicious porridge you can decorate with the same kind of toppings. If you like, you can also add some cinnamon or honey on top.

Warm/Cold Couscous

I recently discovered couscous in Madrid as you might have read in my previous post. I thought it was such a great idea for those days when you are running out of time but you still want to have a proper meal.

The main advantage of this product is that it only takes like 5 minutes to cook and you don’t even need any equipment other than your kettle and a bowl. The only thing you need to do is putting the amount of couscous you wanna eat in a bowl and then pouring in the same volume of boiling water. Cover it with a lid and it’ll be ready in less than 3 minutes.

Once it’s ready, you can combine it with almost anything you like. You can have it warm or cold, depending on the type of recipe you choose but the usual is some veggies, chickpeas and some kind of meat. I tried that for the first time yesterday and I think it looks quite nice. What do you think?

Don’t forget to sprinkle some salt, pepper or other spices on top as it can be a bit tasteless otherwise.

“Addictive” Hummus

No doubt is one of my favorites, and I’m sure it’ll be yours once you’ve tried it yourself because, let me just warn you, it’s very very addictive. Be careful! haha

Hummus is made only of chickpeas and tahini (sesame sauce), which means is suitable for vegetarian or vegan diets. Moreover, it’s perfect for those days you are not feeling like cooking at all, but you still want something yummie in your mouth.

Hummus with carrots, pepper and crackers

What I like to do is peeling and cutting some carrots and some red pepper and dipping them in a bit of hummus. I also like to spread it over these wholemeal crackers. It tastes amazing and it takes literally less than five minutes! It’s so quick and handy that there’s always hummus in my fridge. I cannot go without it! #nowithoutmyhummus
